I have to make my decision really soon and I’m very conflicted. Financially Macaulay hunter is free but northeastern gave me a huge scholarship so I would only have to pay about 12k (without loans) per year so I’m not too worried about the money. My problem is that I’ve lived in New York City my whole life and I plan on living in New York for the rest of it. I’m scared of leaving my family and friends behind because I know myself and I know I will get sad and lonely at northeastern for the most part. I’ve made a few very good friends that I’ve become really attached to and I don’t make true friends that easily. I’m trying to figure out if they co op program (career opportunities) and more prestigious education is worth the loneliness and unease I’m sure I will feel for at least a while or if I should go to Macaulay which is a great program as well. I wanted to know if it matters too much for graduate school which one I attend.
Northeastern is 4 hrs away from my home btw.
They are both great options. Congrats. NEU is tough ticket, you have obviously worked hard. Congrats.
I can only say that some day you may have wished you had seen a bit more of the world. It’s a bit scary. But you’re from nyc. You’re tough!
Boston is a fun town. The academics will be serious and you’ll have to work hard. So you’ll have lots to do.
If you have it in yourself to be brave and give it a try I would say spread your wings. Just a little. And I would say with a high degree of certainty that if you perform at a high level at neu and don’t like it. There will be nyc transfer options wide open to you.
But you will be homesick and it is adjustment. If you can fight through and come out the other side you’ll be better for it.
But if you don’t think you can, Hunter is a great alternative. It won’t work unless you think you can be happy in any way.
Hello Mr. Sir, what kind of questions were you asked when you were interviewed for Hunter through the Macaulay program? I have an interview on January 15th.
