I was rejected from my top two schools and wailtisted for my other top choice schools. I am still appreciative that I have many other choices, but now I have no idea where I want to go. My choices are:

Macaulay Honors College @ Hunter (Free tuition and dorming)

Hofstra's 4 + 4 B.S. - B.A. /M.D. Program (Free tuition but must pay for dorming)

Stonybrook University ($5,000 scholarship) ( I regret not applying to any honors program or the science program for women, because earlier in the year I didn't really have full interest to attend)

Binghamton University

Yeshiva University ($25000 scholarship and part of honors program)

Which one should I chose? I am so confused, and don't know which one is the best option. I want to study pre-med and I hope that the school I go to is strong in this field. I also don't want to feel lost in the crowd and I want to be around students that are excited about life and are ambitious. I also want to have a nice Jewish life and be surrounded by people who are also serious about their Judaism.

Hi. I was also accepted to the Hofstra BA/MD program. I think they only accepted 6 kids, thus it’s most prestigious option of the five (not to mention there are hundreds of kids that’d give up anything for that GUARANTEED seat). If you choose to pursue the program at Hofstra, you will be categorized with a select few kids and will not “feel lost in the crowd”, as you put it. This translates into more individual attention from professors and academic advisers, as well as more contact with the medical school. Also, when I went on the tour of the college campus (and med school) I really liked the environment – both academic and social. This was important to me because I didn’t like the commuter school feel that some of the other schools you’re considering might have (any CUNY for that matter). Another thing to consider is the teachers, which I feel are more accessible at Hofstra than the other, research-oriented schools you’re looking at. Moreover, Bing and SB are known for some pretty cut throat competition, especially among pre-med students. Although I’m not Jewish, I know that Hofstra University has a Jewish cultural group called Hillel, which consists of a large community of Jewish students at Hofstra with similar interests. Hofstra University has a good premed program that is certainly improving, especially now since it’s attracting higher caliber students with the honors programs and merit-based scholarships. Another fun fact about Hofstra that I recently found out is that it’s one of only three schools in NY that have a med school, law school, and engineering school. As for me, I’m debating this program with 3 other guaranteed med programs and 2 Ivy leagues schools, but since I’m a Long Islander (literally 6 minute drive from Hofstra) and want to stay close to home I think my decision is in favor of Hofstra. Good luck making your decision; I’m sure you’ll do fine wherever you decide to attend.

I’d take the BS/MD program…for sure.

Do some of the Macaulay Honors schools provide free housing and some don’t?? I think another student was accepted to a different school and hers didn’t include housing.

Yea, Brooklyn BA/MD program didn’t include housing and there was a Macaulay Honors option.
