im fed up with my 30 minute battery power on hp so im switching... but right now the ucla store only have the macbooks for 50 dollars off... but i do get a free ipod touch with it... or should I wait for a better deal? do anyone actually think there might be a better deal coming?

when they start phasing out current models?

i got my macbook in december for $200 off ($100 off student price) because they were coming out with a new version.

get a dell

Macrumors.com is claiming that Mac will be introducing new laptops and ipods sometime in September...so now is probably the best time to get one unless you want to pay full price for the new models.

I'm actually waiting for a revision of Macbook. The Back-to-School deal doesn't attract me at all lol. I've been reading stuff at Macrumors a lot. The new Macbook is coming soon. If you can wait a little longer, I think you should. The new Macbook will probably be all aluminum tho. So if you like white&black version more, you might wanna get it now.

ew don't get a dell. their quality isn't rated very high. probably cause it's made in china

get an asus if you're not going to get a mac =)

im kinda fed up with pcs... but anyway i do like the white one better than aluminum... but im wondering if with the release of new model they'll have a clearance of this old model... or is that already going on since they said on the site that "while supplies last"

They'll definitely have clearance on the older model if you wait. The release may be delayed though, but it should be Q3 2008

i don't really think i can... my laptop is so bad right now, it last 40 minutes on battery at lowest settings and overheat and dies when i have it plugged in... I lost 3 pages of work last week when it died... lmao... plus just getting a free ipod touch would be kinda worth it? O.o I don't really have a use for it but I guess i can hand down my old ipod lol

You could sell it to make your MB cheaper. It may be released in Sept, but the iPod deal usually ends when school starts.

You could get a new battery...

i did, my laptop is just a power drainer and have to be plugged in all the time, well the other battery is from another computer but both are giving me around 40 minutes max so they are both in good condition...

95% of the laptops these days are made in china
all apple products have an "Assembled in China" print, but its products have been consistently voted as the most reliable in the computer industry. lenovos are the most reliable windows-based laptops, while dell, hp, and sony dont even come close to lenovo's quality.

the new iPods are rumored to come out on Sept 9, and the redesigned macbooks are supposed to come out on the 16th. both are expected to have price drops, like the iPhone 3G

Just wait for a better deal. They usually have some leftover stock of previous models when the new models come out.

New MBP

That's just a mockup and isn't real.

fisico - do u have a pic of new macbook?
New mbp looks like macbook air

kick53rv3 - my laptop is even worse. it lasts 3 mins on battery. I think my battery dies. idk, but im getting a new one soon and i can still handle this one even thou it is soooo slooooooow

3 min lmao nice... well i have gaps between classes, like hour or 2 where it would be nice for me to use a computer to surf around, do homework and whatnot... ummm im really unsure what im suppose to do now...

yes, you are correct.

all companies are having new models cuz intel just release Montenivo mobile processors few months ago... ASUS already introduced there's so u can get ASUS if not dell

I doubt you will get anything done in an hour or two. You'll probably get distracted by Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, etc. As for homework, what happened to using pencila and paper?

Just wait for the new models to come out. That way you can decide between the new models or get a good deal on closeout. In the meantime you can use the computer labs.
