I read digg too you know. :)

haha fisico you are prolly right, although i don't have myspace anymore but facebook and youtube takes some time :) as for homework you know how most of the professors post homework numbers online, so i kinda need it to check, well i can get unlazy and write them down lol... but i mean right now im taking physics and I have the whole book on pdf which is a lot better than carrying a book around all day... plus solution manuals are on the computer :)

if you take into account the free ipod touch, then i dont think you will get a much better deal anytime soon. $50 off academic price, plus $300 value ipod. even if you resell the ipod for only $200, do you think the old ones would be on clearance for over $250 under original academic price once the new ones come out? its a bit of a stretch...

if you're going to keep the ipod anyways, then thats even better.

so if you dont mind having an "old" computer in a couple weeks, then go for it now. i'm waiting to see what apple comes out with. and waiting for dell to use centrino 2 in its laptops. (hp was considered, but their ultra glossy super chromed out design for their new laptops is just...too much...)

get an asus if you're not going to get a mac =)
most asus products are made in china. most everything is made in china.

its not so much where its made that matters. its the quality of the design, materials used, and quality control that makes the difference.

yeah thats what i figured, that price plus ipod is well worth it, i kinda want to see what they come up with but if it is just a metal coating then definitely not, i like the black and white anyway

I got a MBP through Apple with a $100 printer rebate = free printer plus a free iPod touch, then sold the iPod touch for $200. Then I bought my software from UCLA at discounted student price. So by going through apple for hardware I actually saved more than through UCLA b/c of the printer deal.

I agree, if you can wait, wait. If not, see what deals you can get from the different stores first.

but i already have a laserjet that works wonders :)

Well, see if there are any other deals you can benefit from. Otherwise....^^

yeah but i kinda want to know if they'll still have the ipod for free when the new macbooks come out and the old version goes onsale... cuz i have no problem with the old version if it is just a bigger harddrive and aluminum cover

The rebate expires on the 15th of this month the update will probably not come in time.

yeah, the deal will most likely be over before the new models are announced.

you can hold out for another week or so and see if more concrete rumors/specs surface. new ipods are expected to be announced on the 9th, and speculators arent sure if apple will reveal the new laptops at the same time or at a later date.

well i got my macbook yesterday :) but now having some problems with my battery, sometimes when I start it up it'll say no battery detected or something, yet when I unplug the computer it still works, the battery is full so i think it might be caused by some of the USB devices I plugged in, like my wireless mouse, cooling pad, or print? anyone get the same problem? or should I take it to the store and see if they can fix it?

Something's probably wrong with the battery or the notebook. Get the Macbook looked at in an Apple Store.

Take it to the Genius bar in the Apple Store (make an appointment first!). If you bring it in early enough and they can't fix it in store, they might just get you a new one for free.

i talked to the ucla computer store people today and they told me they'll replace it for me on saturday if this continues to occur...
