<p>^I totally agree. Upgrades from apple when you first buy your mac are incredibly expensive. Just do it yourself and save quite a bit of cash.</p>
<p>UCLAri, I saw your previous post about Crucial. That was helpful. The Crucial memory is half the price of the Apple upgrade.</p>
<p>Do you recommend swapping out the hard drive? I don’t want to spend the money on SSD - at least not for now. I also saw something about a hybrid drive that costs about $100 for 500 GB but it gets mixed reviews.</p>

<p>I would just get an SSD if it were me. Don’t deal with anything complicated like a hybrid drive, which is likely to be full of problems. </p>
<p>SSD = trading space for speed
HD = trading speed for space</p>
<p>It really comes out to what you value more. Either way, you can really benefit by swapping out the default drive for your own. A 7200 RPM HD will provide some speed benefits either way, and is not an option from Apple anyway.</p>
