Sony Vaio EB is the “worst” among your three. Lowest battery life - something that’s convenient in college.

MBP: if you have the money (I certainly dont…)
Envy 14/15: good deal. The 14’’ is predominantly an all rounder laptop. The 15’’ is mainly a power user. Small differences between the two though.

Whatever you do, watch out for the HP Pavillions, I got a dv9000 (9208nr actually) and it has a hinge problem on the 19 inch. Causes the screen case to crack up the seams. In 3.5 years it’s broken twice. I’m lookin for a netbook to help me.

The Envy 15 and 17 are already out. The Envy 14 will be released on June 27th. I believe they are also going to release an Envy 13, but I don’t know when (my guess would be the 27th as well).

I have been looking for laptops and Macbook is not worth it’s price when comparing it to others. Yeah the Macbook will be more slim but at the price it lacks windows, cam/skype, a drive and many other things. Most of the price paying for a mac appears to be the name brand and it being more fancy.
Still looking for a laptop.

You are wrong about the macbook. It does include a webcam, a disc drive, and it can run windows with bootcamp. Do just a little more research next time. :)

[Apple - MacBook - Features of the $999 MacBook.](http://www.apple.com/macbook/features.html)
And I quote:
“Built-in iSight Camera - Use the camera and iChat software to stay connected with friends and family.”
“Burn CDs and DVDs. - MacBook comes standard with a built-in SuperDrive. What makes it super? You can enjoy your favorite DVD movies and music CDs. You can burn your own CDs or DVDs to back up data or create your own music mixes. Or you can use the included iDVD software to burn Hollywood-style iMovie creations, then watch them on a DVD player.”
This is just the basic MacBook as well, not the MacBook Pro.

Anyway - I’ll be getting a MacBook Pro with an i5 processor & 500 GB of memory on Tuesday. Money wasn’t an object when I picked out my computer, and if it’s the same for you, I would probably say go for the Mac. I’m partial to them, but I just think they will last you longer & I’ve just overall had no luck with my Windows laptops…

Well that’s great news.
I really need to purchase a laptop for college, my sister has been pushing me towards the Apple. Though I have been comparing prices and I think that I have found less expensive laptops which offer more than the Apple but disadvantage of being more heavy, and less slim/ fancy. I am also concern with the Apple iWork program. Attending college this fall I’m not sure if iWork is a great program to use as oppose to Microsoft which typically dominates.

^I don’t know if other schools do this, but through UNC, the IT department has a deal where you can get Microsoft Office for Mac installed on your computer for free. There is also another deal where you can buy it, with the disks & all for $25. So, I’m not even buying iWork, since I can get Office for less. Definitely check with your school though, they probably have a similar discount on Microsoft Office.
