Well, my Dell Inspiron 1420's screen cracked today :(
Therefore, I will be needing a new laptop ASAP! I am between a Macbook and possibly a Sony Viao, or probably an HP! I need some help in deciding. What do you guys suggest? I am a business major btw.

Sony

New Macbooks are supposedly going to be announced next week, so I'd wait until then to buy one. But you might want to stick with a PC if you need to run Windows-only business software.

I would recommend a Lenovo Thinkpad over a Sony. They cost about the same; the Sony gives you bling, while the Thinkpad gives you quality and reliability. HP's are definitely cheaper, but the one I have right now has quite a few hardware issues, so I'm giving it to a family member who won't mind and buying a Thinkpad for myself. I've used Macs quite a bit, and wouldn't recommend switching to a Mac.

If you're not going to buy an Apple (best customer satisfaction of any laptop), at least DON'T buy a Sony. Sony has lost their way even in their forte, which was audio and video. It never was computers, ever. Many schools have a favorite they endorse and offer superior support for. UVA even offers a unique 4-year Apple Care plan with their Macs now after resisting the force for years. The students have spoken and Apple is now king on kollege kampuses. All it took was an Intel chip, apparently.

mac over sony any day. hp is fine, too.
