I have several questions about the MAcc program and the application process:

Program
1. When and how do students typically get internships during the program (especially in the one-year programs offered, i.e. USC)? For USC students, would internships take place in the evening and/or the summer after graduation?
2. How useful is the degree for those of us with no experience, internship or otherwise, in accounting?
3. For those of us already out of undergrad, would one-year programs be a better option (cheaper, lower opportunity costs) than two-year programs (no summer internship)?
4. How easy is it for students from "top" programs to apply/interview for out-of-state jobs?
5. How easy is it to get an entry-level accounting job right out of the program, without taking the CPA exam?

Application
6. How should applicants with no accounting background, no real work experience, and no internships related to accounting approach letters of recommendation? Most of my undergrad professors don't remember me, especially the two who taught my introductory accounting classes. My grad school professors would not be happy to learn that I am dropping out of their program. How would I explain to former internship supervisors why I want to go into accounting? What value would their recommendations have?
7. The personal statement wants an explanation of "your professional aspirations and how the program will help you to achieve them". How should we approach this topic? Is the personal statement supposed to read more like a creative narrative or a cover letter? Also, how do I explain why I want to abandon my undergrad career path to be an accountant? My background and internships are all over the place and lack focus.
8. And finally, how difficult would it be to get into an MAcc program at USC, BYU, or UTA?

Thanks. :)
