Macs at Cornell

Hey- I'm interested in getting a Mac, but just wanted to make sure they are very compatible at Cornell. Are there Mac labs and plenty of Mac users at Cornell? Thanks.

i'm not aware of any mac labs on campus...

PCs are easier and more compatible...though with vista compatibility issues who knows what this fall will bring...

while there are no 'Mac' labs that I know of, there are a few (wonderful, amazing, perfect, functional, non-blue-screen-of-death) Macs in the Mann library near the Ag school, right next to the big windows.. perfect place for writing a huge paper.

Just switched to Mac from PC... can't tell you how much more brighter the world seems now. Have had no problems... although haven't tried things like Add/Drop yet (didn't have to last semester). I'm sure many other people on here w/Macs can elaborate.

Don't listen to fd36, he's a typical stubborn lifelong PC user who hasn't used Macs since elementary school. ;)

I have a mac and it's worked everywhere and with every program.

Personally, I believe it's superior to any PC - I used PC up until 3 years ago when I switched and I'll never go back.

well i took computer literacy on one of those new blue egg shaped macs...so i like macs...i just know that all the mac users struggled for courseEnroll...and CS majors didnt like them either...

CoursEnroll works totally fine on macs. If it didn't work, it's a problem with the person and not the computer.

just bought a black macbook

should come this week

I used a mac all last year and I didn't have any problems whatsoever. CourseEnroll and Add/Drop is a little slow though because it is not native for Intel Macs but hopefully this will be fixed when the new bear access is released in the fall.

You should be just fine.

I'd actually say the CS department (both students and faculty) is split down the middle in terms of Mac/PC usage. Personally, I don't care either way except Macs cost more and are less...hackable so I haven't made the switch.
