I made a 36 on the ACT; what is the benefit of taking the SAT (have registred, have not taken it yet, but am planning on taking subject tests).
No benefit at all unless you need it to verify PSAT score for National Merit.

I will probably take it for national merit purposes but it’s a relief that that’s all I’ll need it for. With APs and subject tests coming up, being able to put that a little lower on my priorities is very helpful
Don’t even prep for it lmao
The verification for national merit is so low that it really isn’t hard to get a good enough score at all
Thanks! Thats helpful to know (seriously I have enough to do right now even with zero prep for the SAT). Do you have any idea what it is specifically or does it vary from year to year?
What did u get on your PSAT Junior year?
1480 both sophomore and junior year
a 1480. Sorry I meant to post that as a reply not a comment. Still new to this site
Also if it helps my index was 221
What was you Selection Index number and what state are you in?
221 and Texas
Ah you are right on the borderline. We won’t know until September if that will make it or not, so I’d go ahead and take the SAT in the event that it does.
But you don’t have to prep.
lol ikr. Cutting it a bit close but hopefully I’ll make it.
My DD opted not to take the SAT. She got a 34C ACT and she didn’t score high enough on PSAT for NMSF (we’re in CA so it’s super high) so she decided to focus on ACT. She did take three SAT II’s.
