Made a BIG mistake, forgot to drop a class

I just found out I forgot to drop a class and now I have an F in stats. I did not mention this in my UC apps since I just found out. I called my school and they said I could challenge the grade. What would be a good reason for not dropping a class? And if this F stays on my record how badly will it affect my chances of admission? This F is the only grade I have for this CC, how likely is it that theyll find out if I dont tell them about it? Please help......

This is a F in fall 2011? That’s pretty serious, considering fall 2011 is probably the most important semester/quarter, not to mention your GPA.

Fight it any way you can. But at the end of the day, you are an adult that forgot to take care of important business. I’m not sure you deserve or will recieve any sympathy from adcoms or the school.

Whatever happens, make sure to update your UC app.

best thing you can do now: talk to CC, UC, and write in the addit comment of the UC app

did you even attend any other classes at that cc? if not you shouldn’t even mention it on your app… but that might not be sound advice bc if they find out you lied they wouldn’t let you apply ever again. does anyone know how well their background checks are? man that really sucks I feel your pain

Damn son…

Don’t omit it, anyone who tells you to do so is giving you the worst possible advice for your situation. How long ago was it? Stats is rarely a class people take just for the units, let alone fail it and make no attempt to ever retake it.

Strive’s comment is as good as you’ll get. Ain’t none of us miracle workers, but if you’re honest and bring it up in your app at least you won’t be lying. I reckon the consequences for getting caught are at minimum an automatic rejection.

stats as in the requirement to transfer out??? im tripping too… I got a W for stats for fall and now this winter im also thinking of dropping it and will get another W! and now i will take it for spring.

Good thing you caught it before the TAU deadline on the 31st. Just write it in the comment section and be honest about it. Call the UC’s as well. It’s the only thing you can do at this point.

I agree with Salmos. You’re going to screw yourself over if you omit it. Every now and then the UC’s will verify records and if they find evidence of academic dishonesty, they will rescind your application. If you are already a student, they will expel you. And if you have already graduated, they will revoke your diploma.

Yes, this is the only class I took at this CC.

I have a question:
If one UC finds out I omitted a class from my application, will they notify the other UC’s?
If they don’t notify each other, I’m willing to take the risk.

Also, as long as I didn’t receive financial aid from this CC, they can’t trace me back right? Will applying for FAFSA for the UCs show that I attended this CC?

nm I think they’ll find out through your California student id. just be honest and try to get that cc to get rid of it since you only took one class, if that’s even possible.
