Made a huge mistake with the counselor school report, should I still submit early action?

Made the HUGE mistake of not checking over the deadline dates for the Georgetown application, which is separate from the common app. I am applying early action so it’s due Nov 1st.

I had assumed that, like common app, the counselor school report would be due two weeks after the student deadline. Nope! Apparently they’re due also on Nov 1st. My mistake. I added my counselor immediately and sent her a (very very apologetic) email, but at this point I doubt she will submit it on November 1st (tomorrow) as it is the weekend and I put her email in the system very very late.

What will happen if I submit my application and she doesn’t send it in on the Nov 1 deadline? Will my application get tossed? Will I be deferred to regular decision? Will I know? I would call the admissions office and ask but tomorrow is a Sunday. I am trying to figure out how I should proceed and whether I should submit my application now or not.

There is an essay I still need to finish and if there’s no way they will accept my application early action without the counselor’s report, I figure I might as well take the time to make my application and essays as good as possible. But I’m also worried about potentially losing out on the benefits of applying early action.

There’s also the added bonus of me forgetting to send in my AP scores until today (they’ll be delivered in around a week with rush delivery). They are due Nov 1st as well for Georgetown so they’ll also not get there in time.

Many schools get the supporting documents after the EA deadline. They know that not all high schools can get the documents done.

I’d send it. If they don’t accept it EA, won’t they just transfer it all to RD? It’s also likely that with Nov 1 being a Sunday, they’ll accept things on Nov 2 (or later).

There are not many benefits to applying EA at Georgetown (lower admit rate than RD) and most applicants get deferred to RD. I wouldn’t sweat it tbh, and if you think you’ll have a better application if you take more time on it I’d go with that route.

Thanks for the helpful answers! Just wanted to update and say that Georgetown just sent out an email and said that with all the difficulties of this year they are pushing the deadline for the supplement through Wednesday November 3rd, and that they will accept high school reports/recommendations after the deadline, preferably by Friday the 6th.

Don’t worry about it. My DS forgot to have his teacher recommendations in by Nov 1 last year It didn’t impact his decision. Just get the application in. They are flexible with the stuff that comes from other sources.
