So on my Common App I put down that my dad went to a university but got no degree. The truth is he did get a degree which I did not know until recently.
I already applied to two colleges saying my dad got no degree. Should I not change it and apply to other colleges with the no degree?
I want to be truthful and change it but at the same time I feel like it would be safer to not change it as the colleges may somehow have a contact with each other.
Note: The degree he got was not in the US, it was in a different country so i mistakenly assumed that he did not get a degree.
You signed and swore that everything was true, “to the best of your knowledge”. When you submitted it, you didn’t know that your father had attended university outside the USA. Now that you have the knowledge, you’re correcting it. So you did not do anything wrong.
Simply write to the admissions that, in the tine since you submitted your applications, you learned that your father had, in fact, finished his degree. So now you want to correct that information.
I’m absolutely sure that they’ll thank you for sending the new information, and correct the error, and that will be the end of that.
