Made a Really Dumb Mistake.. Will Colleges be Suspicious?

Hi guys, I recently submitted a common application to a school. It allowed me to submit a resume file in the supp. info section, which I did. The problem is, for the file name, it is my friend’s name… The reason my friend’s name is there instead of it saying my name or Common App Resume is because I was working on this resume at my friends house, and my friend’s computer automatically authors it XXXX’s Resume. Will colleges see the file name because when i go to preview my application on the Common App, the file is opened up and added in as a digital copy of the resume so there is no file name to open and read, its already there… Please help, I dont know if I should give the college a call or just ignore it?

In order to relieve your anxiety I would suggest calling. Additionally, if they did find the issue then that may be a negative for you. I would let some others weigh in too before making a final decision though.

Ok, though my name is actually in the resume itself along with my contact info, its just that the name of the uploaded file is XXXX’s Resume if that helps any guys…

Send a corrected copy with a cover letter explaining the mistake. Email it to the admissions office.

I think the error is logical and they will believe you.
