Hi everyone!
I did something extremely stupid on my test. I had finished the whole thing- I was on section 10, done!- and I decided to go through section 10 and make sure that all the answers I’d bubbled were filled in correctly.
And suddenly, lo and behold- I’m going through the answers, and they are all wrong! So of course, I was like “…!!!” and I started erasing them and correcting them.
Until I lifted my arm.
And realized that I’d been correcting the section 9 bubbles instead.
WITH THREE MINUTES LEFT OF THE TEST
In a panic, I tried to change my answers back. But- time came up.
My proctor filled out a red form explaining what happened, and it’s gonna go to collegeboard with my test so that a human can take a look at it. However, I have one glimmer of hope; I circled ALL the answers in my test booklet, and you can see the grayed-out areas where I erased on my answer sheet.
Will this help me at all? Has anyone ever had anything like this work?
Thanks!
It never happened to me but I’m sure it happens to many, many people. Humans make mistakes so I wouldn’t be so stressed out. That said, I don’t know how they will judge this case. They may use the test booklet but this goes against their policy where anything written in the book doesn’t count. I would guess they would give a retake?
If you’re not a senior who needed the score for admissions (and I’m guessing you’re not since it’s January), just retake it if they don’t sort it out.
@pitt2021 Hello there!
It ended up that I had actually managed to correct most of the bubbles. I got a 710 on the math section, and 800 on both the others! Thank goodness I didn’t cancel it!
I then retook it in March and got a 760 math, ultimately getting my composite score up very high. In the end, I actually even wrote my common app essay on the whole ordeal.
No matter what happens, remember that even what seems big to you now will ultimately fade. Always keep perspective in your mind’s eye. Even when you feel like something is the end of the world, you may end up forgetting about it in the future. Nothing is ever the end, no matter how bad it may seem.
Best of luck with your college search!!
DAYUM, my dude pulled through. Congrats!
