Made serious mistake, thought 'Secondary School Report' was transcript

I recently applied to NYU, Johns Hopkins, Brandeis, and University of Penn. I am doing everything on my own, since my parents don't know anything about applying and I don't really have any guidance from school. I was under the impression that Secondary School Report = Transcripts. Just received email from Penn that my transcript is missing, their deadline is the 1st of January... so what do I do now? (First time posting anything so go easy on the long one)

They wouldn’t have emailed you if they weren’t going to accept it late. Most schools, in my experience, are lenient about the parts of the application that are filled out by someone other than you. Your best bet is to have the transcript sent out as quickly as possible.

Thanks for replying, I’ll have school send out transcript tomorrow, or ASAP. Kinda freaking out because I can’t call offices on Sunday. If it goes wrong, then oh well at least the Brandeis application will go out.

I would not worry about your transcript going in late. I am really surprised, though, that your high school did not give you even this most basic of information!

btw, it might be good for you to add at least one school that is much less selective than all those you’ve applied to, and you might even seek out some advice from this board. I am not a fan of the “chance me” threads, but in your case, I would suggest you post your stats to help people find you some alternatives. NYU and Brandeis may very well be sufficient safeties, but I tend to think that you would benefit from a school that is less selective. When you post your stats, people can be most helpful if you include your standardized test scores, GPA / rank (or at least a sense of where you stand within your school), your course rigor, minority status if any, extracurricular involvement and achievements.

The best of luck to you in going through this so on your own. Please use this board for help!

Really appreciate your help. Already in at Rutgers as my safety so not worried about my safety. Have GPA of about 3.8-4.0, 710 verbal, 570 math, 680 writing. 720 literature and 670 us history
