Made Your Decision?

Hey guys,
I started this thread because I am very curious to hear about who has already decided that they are definately going to UChicago. For those of you that haven't made their "final decision," what other schools are you considering? What do you plan on majoring in?

Right now I am waiting to hear back from Harvard, Penn and Duke, those are the only schools that could make me reconsider going to Chicago. I would like to double major in Economics and Public Policy Studies (with a focus on economics).

Feel free to throw whatever else you want into this thread, and if you are bored and want to talk about something, or anything (or nothing) feel free to IM me.

I decided! I was originally going to apply to Columbia, Yale, and Brown RD (Near Eastern Studies major) so I could compare financial aid offers, but U Chicago offered me a great package. :)

I decided. I sent in all my papers last week! I'm planning on majoring in math or economics.

I decided on Chicago the moment I found out. The only decisions I have to make now are where I'm going to stay, what courses to take, and how I'm going to pay.

I actually have no earthly idea... it's either Gtown or Uchicago. I like Chicago more when it comes to academics, especially due to its awesome economics program.... but Gtown might be more suited to my politics aspirations.... hopefully soon I'll decide, so that if I do go to chicago (which is where I'm leaning to) I can select the housing I want

Haven't decided yet... I love UC, but I'm still waiting for news from Brown, Emory, Duke, and Johns Hopkins. I'm planning on majoring in Neurosci, maybe doubling with some form of writing.

yea i haven't decided either... got into Caltech early so it prob has stronger natural sciences. (u can't ignore the palm trees either).

good luck deciding ur school! after all, u really wanna go where u'll enjoy your next four years. :]

i haven't decided yet...im waiting to hear from Duke, Columbia and Cornell

getalife:

YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO GO TO UofC

Palm trees are evil weapons of mind control.

haha felipe. how was ur visit btw? :]

getalife: My son#1 is at Caltech; he was admitted early to both UCh and Caltech. My son#2 is admitted to UCh EA, and is planning on going there.

I've learned alot over the last 4 years about Caltech and Chicago, and if you want to chat, please pm me.

Meanwhile, check this out: http://www.caltechvsmit.com/

thanks very much. i pmed u. :] i had a chance to laugh over that link a few months ago... ingenious prank. i almost bought that shirt. :P

I wish I knew where I was going to be for the next four years. I've been admitted EA to Georgetown, The University of Chicago, and Babson - my decision to MIT as differed.

I have until May 1st to decide, but I feel compelled to start removing schools from the choices. I've already "X"ed off the University of Texas at Dallas (for which I had a full scholarship).

Babson is sitting out there on the edge...I like it... no, not really... well, wait. I'm sure most of you know the feeling!

I'd really love to hear what, in everyone's mind, make the UofC extraordinary...

I will be unable to visit any campuses (as I live in an area ruined by hurricane Katrina) - so I'm really quite dependant on the opinions, observations, and experiences of others.

Anything worth noting, In favor of the UofC or otherwise, would be really appreciated.

If it helps – I plan on owning and operating technology corporations with an emphasis on robotics. I know I will need a business degree and an engineering or computer science degree.

Again, thanks for the input.

-Andrew D. Anderson

I had to turn down Chicago EA for Penn ED.

I feel bad because Chicago keeps sending me stuff, and my admissions officer even sent me a handwritten card saying that she thought I sounded like a great person and a great fit for UofC.

I like Chicago much more for the academics, but Penn just seems like a better place to have a "college experience." Chicago will definitely be at the top of my list for grad work, though.

For shame, jpps. The second time you've turned down U Chicago! They've probably blacklisted you for grad school. :p

I was accepted to UChicago and Georgetown EA.
I'm planning on majoring in chemistry with a concentration in organic chemistry and a possible double major in literature/french literature.

Colleges I am considering attending besides UChicago:
Princeton
Columbia
Cornell
Williams
Georgetown
JHU

Yep, I will be going to the U. of C. I can't think of a better university.

"For shame, jpps. The second time you've turned down U Chicago! They've probably blacklisted you for grad school."

I know...I feel bad about it, I honestly do. But I do feel that Penn is more what I'm looking for, at least for a holistic undergrad experience. And had I not been accepted ED at Penn, I probably would've thrown out my other apps. The only other schools I would've considered were Princeton and Stanford.

I seriously will wait until like April 30 to make my decision abotu which college I will be attending.
