Made Your Decision?

I was accepted to UofChicago and Boston College EA. Having been accepted to U of C, Boston College is automatically off the list. The only college that would make me rethink UChicago is Williams College, and I wont know about Williams until first week in April. I know in my heart of hearts (... well, really, the depths of my brain) that Chicago is the better place for me. Something about the two schools being so different (in environment) is making me waver -- if Williams accepts me, I wont know what to do. But I truly love UChicago and will MOST LIKELY choose it, whether I am accepted at Williams or not. I probably wont make the decision until April 30th either.

sent in the "yes" letter as soon as I was accepted-- applying to my other schools (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Cornell, Tufts) wasn't even worth the postage

I sent in my acceptance of admission and the deposit stuff about 4 weeks ago... I figured it's easier to transfer out of U of C if I don't like (which is NOT possible, let me tell you) than to transfer in later... But U of C is my top choice and I'm so happy I got in (even though my American Government teacher teases me about it every day!!!)

Teases you about getting into a top-notch college? What is there to tease you about?

I was accepted to University of Chicago EA. I haven't quite made my decision yet- i'm sure I'll be another April 30ther. I LOVE Chicago academically. I'm interested in EVERYTHING so I really dig Chicago's Core. The only reservations I have are about its social life. But I'm starting to realize that that ends up being almost everyone's reservations. So if there are all these people who are worried about having fun, I'm pretty that collectively we can make some fun (if that makes sense). At least I hope so...

Not to mention, the city is amazing!! I'm pretty sure I'll be attending next year, but for now I'm undecided.

^
I think Chicago prospies are more worried about the huge workload than people who aren't fun. :)

Def. worrying about workload more than fun... did an overnight there and it seemed that you could have as much fun as you wanted to, but left and right there was someone with a book open!

maybe I phrased that oddly. I'm worried about having fun because I know the workload is so intense and that everyone might have their heads in the books 24/7. But hopefully there will be enough balance of work and play...

See my post (#53) for one perspective: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=146504&page=3

My son is deciding between Michigan Eng, Carnegie Mellon, Uof Chi and USNA.

I was accepted EA but was waiting for Georgetown...now that I got rejected from them, its U of C here I come. I jsut officially sent my papers, and I'm pretty excited.

so add me to the list!

even if u had gotten into Gtown, Chicago would've been the right decision

i have a choice between chicago, mit, and berkeley... though i'm 99% sure i'll end up at mit if my mit finaid package is even somewhat decent. i'm assuming it to be very good though.

Chicago, it is............unless of course they find out how unpopular I am on these forums and strike me down with horrible Financial Aid.

I've heard its happened before.

Word, thats my situation

i got into carnegie mellon and UT and wait listed at rice.
rice and uchicago were always my top choices, and thought that if i were to get into both rice/uofc, it'd be a really hard decision to make.
but with the blogspot community, the thought of getting away from texas, the thought of not actually being admitted but just waitlisted, and as i kept thinking of the rigororous academics and creativity/intellect at uofc, i became more and more attracted to uofc.

so there's no second thought about it - im DEFINITELY going to uchicago.

YAY esqaured!!!
aw unpopular?! blehhh its ok esquared i think youre amazing (as you think urself)

-your love tigress

For some reason, I still haven't gotten my decision from Rice, even though I should have. Oh well, I don't really think I'll get in, but if I do, I guess I'll have to think about my Chicago decision some more. But as of now, I'm pretty sure I'll be here next year.

I'm 90% sure I'm going to Chicago next year. I won't be totally sure until I visit.

I live pretty close to campus and I took a class there over the summer. I loved the Gothic atmosphere. I'm stuck between UChicago with not so much finaid, or Davidson with a chance at a full scholarship, plus extra money.

It's hard. But I think that for me, it's going to come down to which diploma is going to look better on my resume, which I admit, is terrible, but realistic.

Are you kidding me... if that's your selection criteria, what are you waiting for? (Before you send your deposit to Chicago, that is heheh....)
