I just got the results back from my MAE and it says math 8b introduction to college mathmatics of sciences. Not too sure if this is a good thing or bad thing considering I am a chemical engineering major. Is this a good starting class for and engineering student because it simply sounds like calculus but I'm hoping it covers pre req

sorry to piggyback on ur thread but i want to know too. I got into Math 9A (first year calc) for CNAS, so is it a good thing?

if you took AP Calculus AB during high school and passed the test, then I believe you will be placed into Math 9B after you report your score in July. If you passed AP Calculus BC, then you will be placed into Math 9C. Otherwise, I think Math 9A for college freshman is a pretty good start. Not too sure about Math 8B though…

I’ve been talking with a friend of mine who is finishing his first year and he told me that 8b and 9a are basically the same class except 8b has more trig yet he said that they both are calculus classes that lead into 9b apparently 8b series skips 9a according to him.

And yea 9a is very good it is the math prereq for chemE that’s why I’m hoping 8b covers it.
