Hey guys! I'm looking for some good magazines to start reading regularly, and I'm hoping for some suggestions. I've come up with:

Newsweek
The Economist
Scientific American
Scientific American Mind
Boston Globe

What are the best magazines/newspapers to read as a high schooler? I currently read TIME and Reader's Digest. Also, should I subscribe to the Boston Globe or New York Times? Thank you!

I haven’t spent too much time with the Boston Globe, but I like reading the New York Times online. I think that’s a good list you have there, although unless you have an established interest in them already and you know you’re going to read them, you should probably try reading articles online for a couple of weeks so you don’t waste money subscribing to all five of those.

I read Reader’s Digest every once in a while… Although, I prefer reading the New York Times (online, as I’ve mentioned before) and Harper’s.

There’s also an informal poll (a thread) on HSL asking which publications are read regularly, so I would suggest taking a look at that.

Are you interested in a news magazine, or a specialized magazine? If specialized, what are your interests?
I love engineering stuff, so I subscribe to Popular Mechanics. (yes, nerdy I know)
If you’re interested in analyzing consumer products, I find Consumer Reports very interesting.
For news or general reading, Reader’s Digest is my favorite. Love the jokes, and there’s always a few good articles.
USA Today is ok for newspapers.

Time, Newsweek, Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, and Car &Driver are very entertaining. I love cars, so I also check out Automobile Magazine and Motor Trend/Road & Track. I also occasionally get the Robb Report, which writes glowing reviews for the ultimate luxuries in life. LOL, I just like looking at fancy cars and rich people’s houses…it inspires me ;)

BTW, Stephen Colbert always trashes the New York Times, so you better not read it haha! :D
