just wondering if when you are graduating with your bachelors degree and they determine whether or not you will graduate with honors and you transferred to that UC, do they count your community college gpa as well?

UC GPA only.

You start fresh with a 0.00 or 4.00(doesn’t make sense to me, 0/0 does not equal 4.00 or 0.00) when you arrive to a UC.

so what, we transfer with an undefined GPA? I’d say to use L’Hospital’s rule to find the limit, but the zeros are constants.

I don’t really know how the UC’s work on the honors Cum Laude issue. But I’m guessing if it’s similar to most other institutions for transfers. It will view your community college transcript if you met the minimum for that honors and they look at your UC record if you have met the minimum as well. They don’t combine the GPA’s but view them seperately, just to see if you met the minimum for honors.

JPNguyen has it right. CC GPA is not considered for latin honors at UC graduation.

Although some people get confused with the idea of “starting fresh.” You still have a CC GPA, and it’s still a part of your cumulative undergrad GPA. But once you transfer to a UC, your CC GPA has zero effect on your UC undergrad experience.

haha, i had the same question. every school has a required credits taken at their school to be considered for honors. For ucla, it is 90 units, just enough for transfers

hope that helps!!

kgzotu,

what do you mean that it still becomes part of our cum gpa? friends of mine say that they report simply as credits, and the GPA is reported from the UC. thx!

but like when you apply to graduate school and say you have a 3.0 in CC and 4.0 at UCLA and are applying to Stanford or whatever, the gpa they look at is the mixture of the 3.0 at so many units and the 4.0 at so many units right?

@REVEL: equinebeing nailed it. If you attended more than one school, you’re generally obligated to provide transcripts from all of them when you apply to grad school.

i refuse…hahah, k thx guys. i screwed up this sem, but ehh. its difficult to calculate with so few gpa credits to take into account.
