Does being in a Magnet school help your chances of admission in the UC's or any other college?

not if the kids in your magnet school all apply to the same colleges (since top colleges/ivys usually don't like taking in too many kids from the same school for the sake of geographical diversity).

No. And like with private schools, it can hurt if the school is very competitive leaving most with lower GPAs then they would have had at their local public school.

Well I am currently at the top 12% in my Junior class, and im sure most of the people at the top 5% are applying to Ivy Leagues, Id like to attend a UC... so maybe being in Magnetwill help me get in because not too many people from my program will apply? Do you guys think itll increase my chances?

then in that case, probably yes. magnet (usually) implies a more rigorous curriculum, so they'll def. give you an extra look if there's not too many competition at your school (i.e. kids applying to your colleges).

I think a magnet help more at privates than UCs, which are very quantative. 90 plus percent at mid level and up UCs are in top 10% of class. UCs are notorious for not taking kids from rigorous schools with lower GPAs (nor factoring in competition) as are other State schools. UCs also do not care how many they take from one high school.
