I have been receiving about two brochures per week from Colgate. They are all different but I already applied! I appreciate the interest but until they send a decision isn't this sort of a waste of money??? Is everyone getting this much mail from them?

You do not say what the literature covers. If it’s meant to keep you updated about areas of potential interest to you in particular or to applicants in general you might choose to view it as promotional marketing material intended to help you make an informed decision. Further, if the Admissions Office believes that this approach helps them deliver the diverse class they are seeking then that’s a very good thing all around, right?

Good luck with your college search!

My daughter has been getting mail from Colgate, too. All I can say is that these colleges must have huge PR budgets.

i’ve been getting stuff too, i think it’s just to keep colgate in the mind of applicants so that when/if we get accepted we’ll know all that we can really know about them, and will want to go there.
the brochure that was like a double book was really helpful!

I am also getting letters with hand written notes from Gary Ross. I like the personal touch, makes it seem like they really take an interest in me as a person.

The amount of mail I get from Colgate is ridiculous.
I’ve been thanked 40 times for sending them my SAT scores…

DS is getting the same amount of mailings. It actually started in earnest after he applied which is interesting.

@tribegirl: I got a hand written letter from Gary Ross too … addressed to some other kid in Jordan. Didn’t really make me feel as if they’re “interested in me as a person” LOL. All’s well, I don’t take it personally :D

D got a letter from Gary Ross today with highlights about all the wonderful things going on at Colgate. Do they only send this to the kids that will be/have been accepted? If they send it to everyone, I think that’s just downright mean. The wait until the end of March is hard enough without college teasers!

i got the same letter today also. I’m sure it is sent to all

Got it today, but did not appreciate the fake hand written message at the bottom. I had received an earlier mailing with a real hand written message, the fake is pointless and could have easily been left out.

I got it too…

What was mean was to get this thin, somber envelope from Admissions this close to decision time. My heart broke for my daughter as I handed it to her, “honey, this doesn’t look too good.” It was a relief to only have been information, but an eye opener as to my mother-feelings regarding any future admission denials!

Haha…I thought the thin envelope was a little mean too! My first reaction was Oh Sh…!

haha!!
I love Colgate…:)

Dear Colgate,
Thanks for killing all those trees and spamming my mailbox just to reject me.
