Alright so initially, i thought that we scan the 2009 tax return forms to the IDOC site? However, the the site saids we need to mail the 2009 tax return forms with the cover sheet to a collegeboard adress?

Also, the deadline is March 1? Do we mail by March 1 or should they recieve the mail by March 1st? Thanks

Actually you just photocopy, IDOC does the scanning. Then they distribute your documents electronically to the colleges.

I’m not sure about the deadline, but when in doubt, I say go with “receive by”. If that’s not possible for some reason, then call the helpline and ask.

So we have to mail them a physical copy of the 2009 tax return? Just making sure…

Yes, you should have gotten (or will soon get) a email link to print your IDOC cover page. That will give you instructions on what to submit. Different schools can require different things, so read your cover letter and follow the instructions just as they are written.

Normally they’ll want a copy of your tax return and any schedules you file, W-2 and 1099 forms for both the student and the parents. There may be other documents too if you own a business or a farm… or really anything a particular college might want to see. It’ll all be there on your cover sheet.

You’ll send physical, paper copies of all this to IDOC along with your cover letter, which will also give you specific instructions about the order the documents should be in, etc.
