<p>I realize this is probably the stupidest of questions, but it's something I've been wondering about: how does mail work at Cornell, particularly with packages? </p>
<p>If I buy a couple of things on the internet, what address should I have them delivered to and where can I pick them up on campus? Also, how long will the mail centers (or the equivalent) hold my items if they arrive before I'm scheduled to get to campus?</p>
<p>when you get your room key you will also receive a mail key. every freshman room has a little mailbox, like a tiny locker, at either appel or rpcc (depending on your dorm), where the information desk/mail center sorts the mail into. if you get a package the mail center will hold it in the office and put a package slip in your mailbox, so if you pick up your mail and see a slip you take it to the desk, show your id, and they give you your package. simple :)</p>
<p>if you buy stuff online you put your address as room, dorm, school, city, state, zip
so: ### [CKB, Mews, Donlon, etc.] Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY 14853.
you will probably have to fill your your shipping and billing addresses separately (billing would be your home address). You pick them up at Appel/RPCC. I’m not sure how long they would hold it, or how it works when school isn’t in session. I can’t imagine them throwing something out haha, I probably wouldn’t want to have anything arrive more than a week before I did though. You should probably call and ask.</p>
<p>Over Winter Break, they hold your mail.
I should know, there was a boat load of junk mail waiting for me.</p>
<p>Now for Summer, I don’t know how it works, but I think something/one told me that they start holding mail for people two weeks b4 Fall Semester.</p>

<p>Does Balch Hall have it’s own mailbox? I thought I read somewhere that residents of Balch Hall have mail delivered to the dorm. Is that true?</p>
<p>^That’s no longer true. It used to be that way. The mail for Balch will be delivered to Appel.</p>
