I do have a few little formatting things in my essays... is it worth my time to mail them or should I just suck it up and send them by plain text online?

If the formatting is vital to the essay ... or if you think you are likely to fret about it for the next month and a half, mail them.

i had lots of formatting and a little image (pointillism!) for my extended essay so I mailed it in. sending the others regular...copy/paste into the text field.

Heh, I was curious to see if anybody else felt awkward about putting underscores or asterisks as emphasis in their essay...

I think I'm going to go with the underscores against my more paranoid judgment, because I can't see how they could look at my application and go "REJECTED!" solely because I wanted to use a little emphasis on some words without going through the trouble of paying postage. Italics are priceless.

The format won't let you indent!

Below is a quote from Libby Pearson: https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=17894916&postID=5233208445269443309

No, you can't indent. Indentation is a tool of the Man.

No, you can't order your activities, but putting things in order is also a tool of the Man.

The "have you consulted" question is about anyone you've talked with, in an official or unofficial capacity.

If anybody cares, I totally figured out that my essays didn't even need emphasis after all.

That made me happy.
