Maine vs. UVM

What advantages or disagvantages does Maine have in comparison to UVM, especially in terms of biological sciences and track and field? Of course, please include other comparisons.

Has anyone applied to and visited both schools? What are your thoughts?

umo is stronger in engineering. but if you’re doing anything medicine related, i’d choose uvm. moreover, umo has cut two sports. soccer and i’m not sure of the other one. though, i don’t think track and field will ever be cut out.

S was accepted into both engineering programs - and the Honors college at UMO. After visiting and touring both colleges and surrounding areas, he went with UVM - mostly because of Burlington. A great city with a vibrant downtown area and lots going on both on and off campus. He did not get that feeling from the quiet town of Orono. Although nice, it seemed liked the college was the ONLY thing that was there, rather than being just one of several colleges in the active, but small, city of Burlington.

UVM has an AMAZING hockey rink. that’s kind of off topic, but if youlike hockey, you’ll love games at “The Barn,” which is almost literally what it sounds like. Plus, Burlington’s a great city for college students, and you’re not that far from Canada. those are only minor considerations though

Thanks, folks. I’m curious to know if Maine is more generous with out-of-state aid, among other things.

UVM is more generous with out of state aid, by far.
