Mainstream artists performing at UC Berkeley?

<p>I was wondering if popular and contemporary artists ever hold concerts or other musical events for the students at Cal like hip hop or rock stars. I know that UCSD has the Sun God Festival and other popular artists have gone over to schools such as UCSB. Does Cal ever get any mainstream artists performing for the students? I've checked the Cal Performances site and I only see orchestral or classical music artists performing there.</p>

<p>There’s no big festivals like Sun God, but just off the top of my head in recent years we’ve had Girl Talk, Steve Aoki, Cold War Kids, Blind Pilot, Hieroglyphics, Immortal Technique, and Zion I perform on campus. </p>

<p>I saw Maroon 5 and One Republic at the UC Berkeley Greek Theater! It was pretty awesome. Bruno Mars was supposed to open but got arrested for cocaine.</p>

<p>No festivals. SUPERB is student run so if you’re a prospective student you should join and change that!</p>

<p>Seriously though the Bay Area has a great music scene. In addition to the free concerts put on by SUPERB and the Greek Theatre, downtown Berkeley has a couple of smaller venues that have good artists come in. SF is also only a 30 minute BART ride away.</p>
