Maintaining a high GPA at CAL

People keep saying there is cut throat competition amongst students and so it is very very difficult to maintain a high GPA for a biology major and an engineering major at CAL. Why is it so? What way it is different from the UCLA OR UCD OR UCSD.
If you want to get in to med school later will this hurt you much?
Is there any other way out? (like taking some other and get a high gpa and get in to MED school. what is the admit rate of cal students in to med schools?
Are there any Research opportunities for a biology undergrads at CAL like UCLA AND UCSD as they have medical schools and hospitals .

It’s because the majority of the required classes a pre-med or aspiring engineer has to take are CURVED brutally, meaning he/she is basically competing against his/her peers for the grade.
Don’t quote me on this, but there is no difference if you went here or the other places because those fields of study are competitive in general, though some places are less likely to show it in the forefront.
The thing about med school is that they don’t care where you went to get that degree. All they look for is mainly the GPA, given that you’ll have successfully completed the MCAT.
Well, it depends. I personally think you’d be more prepared for the atmosphere and mindset necessary to face med school if you were to attend Berkeley, but it all depends on you. Where do you see yourself succeeding in terms of learning?
I hope you realize that Berkeley is pretty close to UCSF.

The med school admittance rate for Berkley is 55% and of course there are a lot of opportunities for research at berkely you just have to go out and look/apply for it! Btw premed everywhere is competitive.
