Hi.

Im sure its not uncommon to have friends at different colleges. True, people often lose touch due to the distance but what if the friendships are worth maintaining? Any suggestions on how to do so? And more importantly, what are the cheapest ways of transportation to go visit friends at different colleges? I am specifically curious if there is anything from eastern michigan university or university of michigan to western michigan university and vice versa.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

My best friend lives in England. shrug It’s not a big deal. I think the trick is to manage your expectations. It won’t be like it was before, and you may grow apart. But if you care about each other you can still keep in touch and enjoy the friendship. We mostly keep in touch online because with the time difference and all it’s hard otherwise, sometimes we send snail mail for fun.

I am not sure if you are going to find anything cheap. Eastern to U of M is easy, I go to U of M and boyfriend goes to eastern and there are a couple of bus routes you can take, but getting out to kzoo is harder. I would look to see if there are megabus routes or something but I don’t know what goes out to kzoo, and that’s not cheap. I just wait to see my friends at western until breaks or until someone hitches a ride. I am guessing you are from Michigan and as such you are probably aware of our general lack of public transportation outside washtenaw county.

Thank you for your comment.
And very true on the transportation…

I only worry about my closer friends. One of my best friends lives in California, another 200 miles away; I talk to them just about every night, the rest of my friends I keep tabs on through facebook but other than that…meh. Other people to worry about now.
