Sopheee how can you tell her to go with Comm when she has a 3.75? When I said they didn’t look at applications below a 3.9 I wasn’t kidding. Both UCLA and my scholars counselor at SMC (Who graduated and worked in Comm @ UCLA) said it’s pointless to apply with a GPA below 3.9

When you’re giving the OP advice are you basing it off facts or just trying to be positive? I think it’s great if you’re trying to be supportive, but facts are facts…and I don’t care who you are a 3.75 will not get you in as a transfer.

The problem with applying to ucla for English is that it isn’t communication. Follow what you love. Do you have tap? If so you can put English as your alternative major. You never know, but if you are going to spend years studying then you might as well study your first choice. Good luck

SMCguy, I’m just saying that if she is she loves comm she’s better off applying to schools with it, rather than picking UCLA and having to major in English. And I got into UCLA with a lower GPA than average for my major, so clearly GPA is not the be-all, end-all for getting in.
