"Major Awards" - INTEL

Hey all, I have a question about the INTEL international science fair and how it affects your chance in admissions

I have participated in science fair as a freshman and I racked up 1st places (including best of show) in my county science fair, which I then moved to the Deleware valley science fair (includes deleware, pennsylvania, new jersey) and I racked up 1st place again, in biochemistry. However, I did not receive the best of show award in DVSF, and in DVSF, the top 3 best of show participate in INTEL.

This year, I want to get a best of show award so that I can participate in the INTEL science fair. however, is just "making" it into INTEL considered a "major award"? Like "participation in INTEL science fair?"

Will colleges care that I participated in it? or will they only care if I win something in it?

I know in many chance me threads there is a section for major awards, which looks like this: "Major Awards (INTEL, USAMO, etc):"

can "participating and made it into INTEL" count as anything??

Just say “1st Place Biochemistry: Regional Science Fair.”

so getting into intel won’t do me any good? : (

I think INTEL could help. Check out the What colleges don’t tell you or (what hs’s don’t tell you) books, because I believe she mentions this fair.

other opinions? bump
