Major based on interest or difficulty

I am attending Stony Brook in the fall on a pre med track. I'd like to be declared before I start classes. I am aware that your major does not matter on a med school application. I have many interests in the social sciences but biochemistry is a clear leader. I take a biochem class in high school now and I love it. But biochem is by far the toughest major- what I've seen on live everywhere. I am no perfect student, but I am perfectly capable of keeping a high gpa with this major. Will this hurt me in my chances of getting into a top medical school? Should I consider the others if I am able to get a better gpa?

PS please no shots on how hard it is to get into med schools like those and blah blah . I am perfectly aware

Hmmmm. You are confident you can keep a high GPA in Biochem …and you love it. So what is the question again? ;)

Well it clearly wouldn’t be as high as if I took an easier major that I have some interest in. But would it hurt my chances of getting into med school?

i got better grades in my science courses than my humanities courses (i was a bio/classics double major), what makes you so convinced that something other than biochem would be easier FOR YOU.

Well, I am glad somebody else took over. I guess my post was just.too.subtle. ;)
