Major/Career suggestions?

I am about to enter college as a Freshman and am trying to decide on a major. I have an interest in chemistry, but not the theoretical or "non-practical" stuff (like molecular orbital theory and what not). What I like so far are things such as figuring out what will be the products of a chemical equation, nomenclature, equilibrium constants, radioactive decay, etc. Things that explain how more than why. Does that make sense? I may also have an interest in biology but I have not had much experience with it.

I have considered med school or pharmacy school, but if I decide to not go those routes I would like to have a degree that will provide opportunities for interesting, good careers. Other than engineering degrees, what type of science majors would you suggest and what kind of careers can be had with the degree? I have thought about biochem, but I don't know. Thank you! If you need any more info, just ask!

To me picking a major is working backwards. Choose a career and credential yourself for that.

Any STEM degree is going to set you up pretty well in the workforce in a whole array of techie jobs (software, engineering, hard science). From your post, start by sifting out the differences in health care jobs vs tech industry. Choosing one of those broad areas is probably enough to start college with.
