Major Change for Incoming Students

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew how to change majors. I'm an incoming student to the CNS (Chemistry major) but i want to switch to Cockrell majoring in ChemE. I was accepted back in november. When I try and start the major change for incoming students form i get this:

"Only incoming admitted students may use this application. Please contact the Office of Student Affairs if this is an error.- XNRC
If you are a currently enrolled UT student who has completed at least 24 hour at UT-Austin in residence (in a UT-Austin classroom), you may apply for an Internal Transfer."

Not to brag, but I am top 2% of my high school with pretty good test scores so I think i should be able to get in in Cockrell. Does anyone know how to start this process and if all their spots will be filled already?

Thanks!

I believe major changes are for within Cockrell only. I don’t think you’ll be able to transfer in until you’ve accrued the aforementioned 24 hours in residence.

If you want it bad enough, you can always try calling in. There’s always a small chance that someone can pull some strings if you do a good job pleading your case.

I would contact the advisor for your current major, if you know him/her (you can probably find that information online), or the advisor for what you want to change into. At your freshman orientation this summer there will be a seminar-type thing on how to change majors and colleges.
