You cannot request a change of major until after you get to the UC. You may be able to get the ball rolling at orientation, not sure. But not now. You fill out some forms and have to get approval from your college and major dept.
I was able to change my major simply by emailing admissions office. Correct me if I’m wrong, but on the UCSB portal it allows you to change your major.

Was it just a regular formal email? I just want to make sure so I don’t accidentally write them a book when they didn’t ask for one haha
@NookLines It was a simple to the point email, well the first email I sent was asking how to change my major. The admissions office worker wrote to email the office again to confirm my major change. I basically wrote "I want to change my major from ________ to __________.

I guess its fun to play UC adcom, even if the actual policy can be found on the web or by checking with UCSB admissions. Of course had the kid listened to you and done nothing now they would have faced this

Hey @NookLines, it does appear you can do it at UCI via online. I was working off links that I guess had old data, noting you need to be enrolled (not merely admitted).
