Major Change

So I was admitted to UC Davis as a Biological Systems Engineering major and I was curious if I could change my major to Chemical Engineering before attending Davis? Unless someone can convince me that Biological Systems Engineering is the better choice?

Hey! Same here. I too want to change to Computer Science & Engineering from Computer Engineering. Is it possible? Anybody any idea how it can be done. Possibly I should check last years discussion for any answers on this.

You cannot change your major before coming to Davis, but you can change your major after your first quarter at UCD (that is, in winter quarter). Anytime during winter quarter, you can just go to the dean’s office, pick up a Major Change petition form, indicate what major you want to switch to, and get your old faculty advisor (or even a staff advisor) and an advisor from the major you want to switch into to sign the form. If you’re switching to a major from a different college, you will also need to get signatures from the dean of your old college and the dean of the new college, as well. One of my roommates switched from Biological Sciences to Animal Science in winter 2012 (we were Fall 2011 admits) and it didn’t take her long at all–the only difficulty is hunting down the advisors and/or deans you need signatures from, but you can save yourself trouble by just emailing them and letting them know you need to see them.

@westee222, do you mind telling us your stats? i am a junior, and i want to know if i can get into the biological systems engineering program!!! thanks a lot!!! and good luck!
