How does the change of major work at berkeley? I'm a physics major right now at UCSD and i'd like to transfer to the engineering physics program at Berkeley, but their transfer admission rate is ultra low for that program. It is slightly higher for physics... I don't know if i'm scamming the system or not to apply for that extra 10%...(sorry if i am?)

Anyways, i was just wondering if it would be difficult to change majors if i am able to get accepted to the physics program?

So...engineering physics is part of Engineering Science, which can only be taken in the College of Engineering. What this means is, as a transfer, you have to apply to the College of Engineering, I believe. If you apply to physics you will be in the College of Letters and Sciences, and then you have to switch into the College of Engineering, which is pretty tough to do, plus I think it will be too late to declare your major by then anyway. So bottom line...apply to Engineering Physics if you want to do that, and apply to Physics if you want to do Physics.

It's pretty hard for transfers to change majors. I should mention that at Cal, the two majors can end up being very similar or very different; it all depends on what choices you make in engineering physics.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to do engineering physics instead of physics?
