I applied as a transfer student to Texas A&M as a Physics major and I see on my AIS that my first choice major has been changed to General Studies.

What does this mean? Am I accepted into General Studies and not physics or what?

I applied as a transfer student to Texas A&M as a Physics major and I see on my AIS that my first choice major has been changed to General Studies.

I met the same situation. I contacted the Office of Admissions and Record and they replied that the space was full, so they admitted me to General Studies instead. Though I applied as freshman, not transfer, I guess at this time, there is no room for those who are waiting in any major except for General Studies.
I just hate this way they handle the applications.

Mattowander, Have you been offered admission as a transfer student?

Nope! I’m actually still on step 3. Why do you ask?

I am also applying as a transfer. Still on step 3. My major was changed from Mechanical Engineering to General Engineering.

Oh. At least you’re still in Engineering I’m in General Studies. I guess it’s better to get in as General Studies then to not get in at all right?

Definitely better to get in as General Studies then not at all! Just can’t wait to move from Step 3!

do you guys know when the transfer applicants will start getting acceptance or rejection letters?

Nope But I heard they don’t actually start reviewing applications until after the deadlines. Doesn’t make sense to me…

Mattowander did you have all the track courses completed? or how much have your completed? How many hours have you have?

No I’m in degree track D and I’m missing Calculus II and Chemistry II but I’m taking them this semester. I currently have 33 hours and I’ll have 47 at the end of this semester. I have a 4.0 GPA and a pretty good essay so I’m hoping that I at least get into General Studies.

I can’t see why they didn’t accept you into physics? =(

Probably because I’m missing two courses from my degree track What is your major?

I want to get into biology but don’t have all the courses done so hopefully general studies.

Yeah do you happen to know how easy the College of Science is to get into?

No idea but i’m guessing its easier than mays =p

Yeah that’s true I just want to know if I got accepted or not…if I have to send in my spring semester grades I might not get my letter until June or July…:(

I just got accepted to Physics major today. Fortunately, I didn’t have to wait too long. I had applied on Jan 20. My stat was good 3.9 GPA, 1340 SAT, international, plus I showed a hell lot of interest in A&M in my personal statement.

Good Luck to You Guys!!

Wow really!? How did you find out advertise?!

The decision was under Step 4 tab. It says they sent me the letter on mail yesterday. I was on Step 3 for almost 2 weeks. If you haven’t been accepted yet, mattowander, how could they change your major? Maybe its a mistake. You can always call or email them in case if its a mistake. Your stat looks pretty good to me…
