Major Changes

I applied to Duke under Trinity, but now I am thinking that I may want to change over to Pratt. Is this possible? Should I wait until after I'm admitted (hopefully) to do so?

i hear it is extremely hard to transfer up to pratt from trinity, or so my interviewer's son (who goes to duke) said. on the other hand, transfering from pratt to trinity is a piece of cake. and its probably too late to transfer over as your app and everyone else's has been reviewed already. wait till you're admitted (hopefully).

I would say to certainly wait until after admission information is out...

After that, it is not that difficult to transfer in either direction. For a Trinity to Pratt switch, we recommend you take the Math and Physics classes that Engineers take as well as EGR 10 if you would like to get an overview of the four departments (half credit seminar) and perhaps EGR 53 - (Computational Methods in Engineering, aka my class) to start your Engineering career. You cannot officially switch until you have been here one year, but you are allowed to take whichever courses you want with the minor exception that Trinity matriculants - even those wanting to switch to Pratt - must take a seminar in the first year, even though that is not a Pratt requirement.

Tuke - not sure who the interviewer (or the son) is but...if there's a chance to correct them on this... There is a misperception that it is hard to come into Pratt and we're trying to fix that.

first year pratt students have an opening for a humanities / social science class. so if you are in trinity and planning on transferring to pratt you would likely take a humanities/SS seminar, which would meet the trinity seminar requirement and one of the pratt h/SS requirements
