MAJOR changes

is it possible to change your major once you start college? i applied for biochemistry but i kinda of want to change it now.

yes it's very possible. just talk to an adviser when you go up to oreientation. but you can only switch after one quarter of school. and some other majors have certain requirements

what are you trying to change to?

im thinking genetics or biotechnology.

Actually no, you cannot change your major until the Winter quarter. This is because many freshmen don't know what they want to do and go on a gut instinct-- only to wind up changing it over and over. You really don't need to change your major until you for sure know what you want to do (sophomore-year is probably the best time to do it)

ohh okay. thanks

Not always though. It depends a lot on the major. Many have a series of prerequisite classes that you need to finish with a required GPA before you are officially admitted into the major. It is best to discuss this with an academic advisor.

yeah..same here. I am in biochem but wants to change my major. My mom wants me to stick with it, I'll see what happens and decide later
