Major/College? Undeclared?

A few questions jumbled together...

1) I think I applied to UCI as a business major, is there a way to find my application now and see what I applied as? (all I have is a copy of the receipt and didn't print this application like I did for others)

2) It says I'm in the Department of Education and Undeclared. Does this matter? I don't remember if UCI is a school in which you pick your major end of soph. year or if you start freshman year? (My guess is everyone's says undeclared....? Or did I get into something odd?) So maybe I should disregard what it says...?

Thank you!

I’m in the same boat. I applied under business and i got accepted today undeclared. Oh well, at least I’m admitted

haha yeah I’m just glad for that, too, and i may not even end up here. it’d just be nice to know what the deal is with the major thing. but it’s nice to know it’s not just me

I applied to bio sciences, and I just got in today, with my major as bio sciences. IDK if that answers your question. BTW IM REALLY HAPPY.

so does anyone know then if we start our major courses as a freshman or junior?

People can start with majors as freshman. I’m not sure if you just applied as undeclared Department of Education as your alternative major or not.
Depending on the major, it may or may not be difficult to change into it. You can even change your major before SPOP/all the freshman orientation stuff if it’s not impacted. What major did you have in mind?
As for your application, I’m not too sure. You can check your emails if there’s a copy of your application or login to your account and see if it’s somewhere…

I did try checking my emails but couldn’t find a copy. I’m pretty sure I applied as business and I’m positive I didn’t apply as anything having to do with education.
I talked to a college counselor who said that classes towards your major don’t really start till junior year but that it was odd I got into the dep. of education.

When you apply there’s also an alternative major, which is what may have been glitched by the system or accidentally been selected as Education.
But, there is no just “business” major at UCI. There’s Business Administration and Business Economics, which are two totally different things. If you were going for Business Administration, it makes sense that you were accepted into the alternate major because that major is really impacted. If it was Business Economics however… the system just doesn’t like you. lol. :frowning:
If you’re still interested in UCI and your major isn’t impacted, then you can just change your major before orientation.

I think some people actually start upper division classes by sophomore year and the lower division pre-reqs for the classes are major/school restricted, so it is important to be in the major/school you think you’d want to major in.

Yes, it was Business Administration haha.

Do you have any idea if UCSD Communication or UCI Business Admin is better? Jw.

login and scroll down to check your campuses and majors!

sorry if this wasn’t what you were talking about. g’luck!

Thank you so much for that!
