Major confusion!

I've always wanted to purse a career in Biology. Lately I have been thinking hard about teaching Biology for secondary education! I am currently a senior, and from my understanding, there seems to be a lot of specific course work involved in getting a bachelors in education! As I'm unsure, would it be better to start off as a general Biology major? I just don't want to spend over 4 years in undergrad... ($$)

Any insight on making this decision, or the career path of a biology teacher in general, would be super helpful!

It really depends on your state. I live in illinois and teaching science at a secondary education level you need to know that is what you’re doing day one of freshman year because you hit the ground running because it’s a very narrow major. Other states might not be like this and it might vary from school to school.

as Alix said, it is state specific. Contact the education dept at the school you’ll be attending.
