Major Decisions

So, I applied to UF for Fall 2010. It's my top choice, and I'm obviously really excited.

Now that introductions are out of the way, I want to ask a question about majors.

On my application, I wrote that I would major in History. However, after some thought, I would rather major in Political Science. I know that major choices don't affect admission, so I'm not worried about that. However, if I do get into UF, will I be forced to major in History because I applied with that information? Or, will I be once again given a choice?

Thanks :D

I think that most people wind up changing their major after selecting an initial major on the application. Basically, it doesn’t matter, it’s just helpful to have your major selected early on so you can take the required pre-reqs.

so, if I understand correctly, I can basically switch majors with no hassle as long as I haven’t begun selecting courses yet

As long as it’s not horribly far in. If it’s the last day of your sophomore year and you decide that you don’t like History and do Engineering instead, then you’ve got a problem.

Oh ok, that sounds reasonable…How hard is it to double major, btw??

I am unable to say with any certainty how difficult it is to double major, but I would assume that the level of difficult would vary from degree to degree.
