Major differences: ACT vs SAT?

Hi everyone,

I've been reading different threads about both the ACT and the SAT, and how the two tests compare to each other. Just for the sake of consolidating, based on others' experiences, what the major differences between the ACT and SAT? I have taken the SAT twice, and my first and only ACT is next Saturday. Unfortunately I have not been able to study for it, so if possible, I would like to focus on the major differences.

My SAT breakdown, if it matters, is 680CR/710W/760M. I'm doing the ACT + writing.

Thank you!

You don’t get points deducted for marking wrong answers on the ACT, but you do on the SAT.

Often kids that are more conservative about marking guessing on the SAT do better on the ACT.

In terms of how questions are phrased- I don’t really remember there being much of a difference (but I took these tests a awhile ago).

Also, the ACT has a science section that the SAT does not have on it.

Would it be best to go over a few Science sections, and not really worry about much else (aside from what personal improvements I need to make)?

Science is essential to review before the ACT. People who do well on critical reading generally do well on science; it’s all analyzing data.

Also, many schools superscore SAT, but most schools do not superscore ACT.
