major differences on SAT scores

i've read and it is a well known fact that even though the collegeboard reports all sat test scores taken the college will take the highest score.

lets say you took the sat two times. the first time you were not feeling so well or something else happened and you did not score so well (the first time you scored high 600 low 700). the second time you scored very high with scores of high 700s or even 800. would this large difference hurt your chances making the adcoms think that you studied 24/7 the second time? i mean should one retake the tests after the secons time so they can get a high score again and show the adcoms that there is a consitency in the scores?

dreadful dreadful grammar but i'm just too lazy to correct it. hey what do you know i truly am an american.

I dont think that a jump from the high 600's/low 700's to the high 700's is a drastic jump. With the new harsher curves, that jump could made by just be correcting a few "silly mistakes", or it could represent intense studying - the AdCom's have no way of knowing. There's definately no need to retake to "show the adcoms that there is a consitency in the scores" - the SAT is only one small part of your application and AdCom's are looking for overall academic excellence, not just a good score on one test that you took for three hours on one Saturday out of the 17 or 18 years of your life.
