Major dilemma! Which essay should i use for my app? Advice plz

Here's my situation, I'm applying to some schools via the Common App. My main essay is pertains to track and field. However I wrote two short EC essays. Which one should I choose? (description below of each)

1) Literacy Tutoring 11, 12 2.5 hrs/wk 40 wks/yr This essay is less well-written than the other one. However, it is academic. Sort of boring and some reader comments have been "take out of a brochure" and "anyone could write this"

2) Recreational B-ball (I don't play for any teams, just at parks, my house, around town, etc.) [9, 10, 11, 12 7 hrs/wk 40 wks/yr[ (3rd of my order of important list of EC's)
This essay is much more personal and lively. It is also better written than the other one. A expert essay reader on CC (an0maly) said this response was much better and "solid". However, it is about sports and i don't even play on a basketball team and i already have a sports essay that is about track and field.

Which essay should i use? I'm on the brink at schools like notre dame and virginia. So, these essays could potentially be crucial. If you want to read the EC essays, PM me.

anyone have some advice? please :)

Impossible to comment without reading… which I will do if you like.

can anyone else help me out?

I would pick the 2nd one, but it’s quite a disadvantage because you were on a rec team not a competitive team sport

do the personal one. the whole point of the personal statement is for the essay readers to learn about you as a person, so use the one that speaks to that. I think if its your passion, it dosn’t matter if you were on competitive teams or not

^I agree, but im not sure if it would be good that all (2) my common app essays were on sports. However, my supplement essays wouldn’t be on sports.
