i was wondering if CAL POLY SLO had a pharmacy major (like pre-pharm ,etc)… just curious and all… i couldnt find it on the site, so i was wondering if people form SLO could help me out…

Sorry no pharma in SLO. UCSF has a kick butt program though.

No college has a pharmacy major…

You can major in Biology or chemistry and then apply to a pharmacy program such as UCSF. (That is a very tough one to get into) University of the Pacific has an excellent pre-pharmacy program. It is shorter than getting a Bachelors and then going to pharmacy school, although that is an option there as well. My son got into that program and could have had a pharmacy degree in 5 years. It would have been very tough, but he decided pharmacy was not for him. Good luck.

For UCSF you can actually go directly in as an undergrad too for pharma. But Momo is right, it is really hard to get in, but its also one of the absolute top program in the US.

Lies. UCSF has training opportunities in areas such as pharmacy for undergrads, but no actual undergrad degree programs.

Firstly, that would be one lie, singular. Secondly, check before you call people liar.

UCSF Pharma: [Step 1: Minimum Eligibility Requirements - School of Pharmacy](Admissions Step 1: Minimum Eligibility Requirements · PharmD Degree Program · UCSF)

Is a bachelor’s degree required for admission?
No, only the pre-pharmacy requirements are required. However a degree may make an applicant more competitive for admission, and in recent years a large majority of our successful applicants have held bachelor’s degrees.

So you can actually just do 1-2 year at a JC and then straight into their pharma program to complete the WHOLE pharma+ undergrad.

So sorry for not being absolutely exactly right my pharma admission overlord.

Firstly, that would be many liars, plural. Secondly, check before you call people people who don’t check before.

Did I say UCSF requires a bachelor’s degree for admission?
No, but UCSF won’t award you one, and you will not be enrolled “as an undergraduate.”

And I forgive you for not being absolutely exactly right, my pharma admission subordinate.

Read again what you wrote and reflect:

“UCSF has training opportunities in areas such as pharmacy for undergrads but no actual undergrad degree programs.”

You said is there is no undergrad pharma program from UCSF, [implying there is only graduate program for pharma at UCSF].

I said there is a pharma program that an undergrad can attend for pharma at UCSF (no intent to lie here).

If the original poster had listen to you and he/she did not consider UCSF (until graduate school) for his/her post high school career aspiration, and missed out on a great potential educational opportunity.

Would you feel good about that or you just don’t care?

I am here to try to help people in my modest way, not to prove I am right; your motive looks entirely different from mine.

Finally your nuance of logic about attending as an undergrad or not at UCSF is WAY too subtle for a high school grad. So don’t indulge in showing off your “nuanced information” to kids and confuse them. Stick with Phd candidates.

High school graduates are smart, but they lack the experience to read into all the subtleties.

oh hey its cool… i decided that Cal poly SLO isnt for me… this was just a way to think whether i should go to the school college visit or not… lol… sry for the argument thats developing
