Major Drop in GPA first semester senior grades...

Hi… So throughout my high school years, I’ve maintained a 3.8 GPA! However, this first semester senior year, my grades have dropped tremendously…I will most likely be gettin two As, 3Bs, and 2Cs…I also happen to take all IB classes and this is almost double the amount of AP/IB classes I took last year so you can say that between the college application, group projects, essays, sleepless nights etc… I fell behind on my workload…so my questions are:

  1. Will my first semester senior grades be taken into account for my CSU, UC, and/or private regular decision application?
  2. Assuming the answer to the first question was no, if I got accepted to any of these schools, what are my chances of getting rescinded because of my first semester grades?

3.Will it help my chances of not getting rescinded if I brought my second semester senior grades back up to at least a 3.7 GPA again as sign that I changed?

Thank you!

side note: I already got accepted to CSU Fullerton with honors program…will they rescind when they see my grades?

UC and CSU do not see your grades before they admit you. However your admission will be conditional; check carefully what each says about its conditions in the offer before you choose a school to enroll at!

They will examine your final transcript after you graduate HS and can rescind you if they decided your performance has dropped significantly. They publish the criteria they use to screen who may be rescinded. You’ll need to check the admission page of each campus where you applied. Some require a weighted 3.0, some an unweighted 3.0, all UCs will consider rescinding if you get any grade below a C.

People out here don’t work in Fullerton admissions. Why not ask someone that does? They’re going to see your grades anyway, it isn’t like if you don’t call or email they won’t notice.

The CSU’s require you maintain your current cumulative GPA and you pass your a-g course requirements with a C or higher. All the UC’s except UCLA/UCB, require a 3.0 weighted GPA for Senior year. UCLA/UCB require an unweighted GPA of 3.0 with no more than 2 C’s. All schools could or will rescind with any D’s or F’s.

Similar case as OP but might have 2 B’s for my first semester senior year. Would like to receive more opinions as well.

You’re fine for UC since C’s in IB courses still count as 3.0, as long as you don’t get a third C.
