Hi, I'm currently at a community college wanting to transfer to UCSD. Are there any majors that could prepare me for Physical Therapy? I have been researching, and some majors such as Human Biology or Physiology and Neuroscience have mentioned Physical Therapy, but I wasn't sure if that is the right place to become a Physical Therapist? Or if I'm wrong, UCSD doesn't offer anything similar to Physical Therapy? Any further information? Please help, I would love to go to UCSD!
Thank you!

It’s like medical school; you can enter post-graduate studies in [whatever field] as long as you complete the necessary prerequisites. Google the admissions requirements for DPT programs to see what the prereqs are.

This is a good place to start:
[Information for Prospective Students](Resources for PT and PTA Students | APTA)

There is at least one college (Boston U, which is a private U) which offers Physical Therapy to undergrads after 5 years of school. This might be another route to consider instead of getting a bachelor’s degree and THEN your PT degree.

One more thing about PT is that it takes physical strength to manipulate your patients/clients, especially those who have paralysis issues and/or morbid obesity (a growing problem). Some physically fit but lighter folks have a VERY hard time with the physical rigors of the job, which is not often what they think of when they 1st decide they want to go into the field. I have known several who have had to re-examine the field because of the physical demands of the job.
